This is a picture of my friend Courtney and I taking pictures of ourselves as seen on tv!!! ok yea so its a camera hooked up to the Tv but its still pretty cool. The tv is connected to the power outlet in the wall with has a voltage of either 120 V or 0V at any moment. The current flows through the complete circuit starting from the 120 V outlet to the tv where the charge is used and the V is returned to zero until the new electrons from the outlet are supplied. Because the outlet is 120 the charge of the electrons will be 120. The tv also has some resistance so that the real charge used will not be the full 120. THe more resistant the circuit the smaller the current. YAY we are on tv :0

This is Angelica and me sitting on a floaty raft in the pool. We were being stupid and trying to push ourselves across the pool with just our legs while balancing on it. As we push against the water with our legs, the water pushes back, propelling us forward. We must keep the mass and distance from the center of each person equal so that we won't tip over. I am assuming that we will learn why the reflection of the water is blue and other aspects of this picture soon!!

This is a picture of Laurel, Courtney, and I messing around at our friend's seventeenth bday party. We are all in different positions and balancing on one foot. This requires our center of gravity to be directly underneath us because if it is outside of the area below us, we would fall over. The more unequally distributed your mass is, the easier it is balance. Therefore the move that courtney is doing moves her CM further away from her leg on the ground. Also, we push against the ground as the ground pushes us back. This is the law of equal and opposite force. If you are actually doing these positions you would realize that you must continually push and grip your toes onto the ground.

Journal 8

This is a picture of my dance team doing turns in one of our performances last year. You can keep these types of turns going for as long as you can maintain stamina and balance. Just like my previous journal, the center of mass must be under my standing leg in order to stay balanced. The other important factor is that the rotation is kept going my the torque applied by the force of my leg swinging around, which is aided by inertia. My extended leg can also be considered the lever arm of the torque. Once I understood these calculations, i realized how i could improve my turning by making sure that i have enough force and the perfect center of mass placement.

These are my friends Laurel and Courtney. We are all in different dance positions with different center of masses. For us to maintain these positions without falling over and losing our balance, the center of mass must be under us. If the center is moved too far forward or backwards, we cant hold these shapes. I didn't realize how much i use center of mass in dancing everyday. Most of our tricks and turns cannot be done without incorporating the law of physics.

journal 5

This summer, my friends and I went to Alan Davis. My friend and I tried doing different jumps, but nothing as crazy as landon and gavin's jumps. This is me just stepping off of the edge and attempting to look graceful in free fall haha. When I am standing on the edge of the log, i have potential energy relative to the water (PE=mgh) but not kinetic (KE=1/2 mv^2) because i am not moving. As soon as i step off the edge, I then have kinetic energy but the potential energy decreases because of the decrease in height. When i hit the water, i have kinetic energy but no potential energy in relation to the water. The total energy when i was standing on the log must be equal to the energy at the end of the jump. It was a lot of fun jumping off the log and free falling was super fun. I don't know how much more potential energy i could handle before i get too freaked out to jump tho!! (no way to spiting caves lol)

Journal 4


HAPPY HALLOWEEN
my picture shows that im happy cuz its more fun than last year (happy like tinkerbell) but a little scared for the rest of the year cuz i hope i can handle it ...and its Halloween
Physics has been a lot more fun than i thought it would be, since i came out of chem hating it. (but this makes a lot more sense) My problem is that i understand it but then on the multiple choice on the test i mess up biggggg time. lol I want to bring my grade up by getting better at those. This is the only class i will stay after the period is done to finish stuff up and its actually fun. Ive been trying really hard to keep up and its makin more sense. (well i think) :)
